What is an Escort?

The escort is a ceremonial procession that accompanies The Wall That Heals as it arrives in Reynolds on June 2nd, 2026, providing a respectful honor guard for this sacred memorial. We encourage all community members to join!

Typically, local motorcycle groups, veteran organizations, first responders, and community members participate in the escort. This moving ceremony demonstrates our community's respect for those who served and sacrificed in Vietnam.

The escort usually includes motorcycles, classic cars, military vehicles, and emergency vehicles with lights and sirens, creating a powerful tribute as The Wall enters our community.

Escort Protocols & Etiquette

Before the Escort

  • Register in advance for escort participation
  • Attend the pre-escort briefing meeting
  • Ensure your vehicle is in good working condition
  • Display American flags respectfully
  • Arrive at staging area 30 minutes early

During the Escort

  • Follow the lead vehicle at all times
  • Maintain safe following distance
  • No loud music or excessive revving
  • Stay in formation as directed
  • Follow all traffic laws and police direction
  • Demonstrate respectful, dignified conduct

Safety Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and insurance required
  • Motorcyclists must wear DOT-approved helmets
  • Emergency vehicles: pre-approved only
  • No alcohol before or during escort
  • Vehicles must pass safety inspection

Escort Route

The escort departs from the Huey 369 Museum, 2901 W Broadway, Bunker Hill at 12:00 PM EST and arrives at the White County Fairgrounds, Reynolds at approximately 1:10 PM.

The route travels north on US-31, through Logansport via Market St and Broadway St, then west on US-24 through Lake Cicott, Burnettsville, Idaville, and Monticello before the final arrival in Reynolds.

There are 14 designated viewing spots along the route where community members can line the streets and pay their respects as The Wall passes by.

**If you are traveling to the Grissom Huey Museum for The Wall That Heals escort, please be aware that a section of roadway along the route is currently undergoing chip-and-seal work.

If you are coming from the US 24 area, you may encounter a detour. The official detour route is:

    US 35 north from Logansport → SR 16 west from Royal Center → SR 39 south from Buffalo → US 24 toward Monticello.

The good news is that the construction crew has agreed to temporarily stop work and allow the escort procession to pass through safely.
