Whether you're greeting visitors, assisting with logistics, or helping with educational programs, every volunteer makes a significant impact. This is your chance to give back to those who served and to be part of a powerful community experience.

No special skills are required—just a willingness to serve and a respectful attitude. We provide all necessary training and support.

Volunteer Opportunities

We need help in many areas to make this event successful

Greeters

Welcome visitors, provide information about The Wall, and answer basic questions. First point of contact for creating a respectful, welcoming atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Friendly, approachable demeanor
  • 4-hour shifts available
  • Standing for extended periods

Parking Attendants

Direct traffic, assist with parking logistics, and ensure safe vehicle movement. Help visitors find accessible parking when needed.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Outdoor work in all weather
  • High-visibility vest provided

Setup & Teardown Crew

Assist with event setup before opening and breakdown after closing. Physical work including moving equipment, setting up tents, and organizing materials.

Requirements

  • Able to lift 30+ lbs
  • Early morning or late evening shifts
  • Teamwork and physical stamina

Education Center Docents

Staff the mobile Education Center, share historical information about the Vietnam War and The Wall, and answer visitor questions about the exhibits.

Requirements

  • Comfortable speaking to groups
  • Training session required
  • Interest in history and education

General Support

Flexible volunteers who can assist where needed most—from distributing programs to helping with special events to providing general support throughout the exhibit.

  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Willing to help with various tasks
  • All ages welcome (under 16 with adult)

The Wall That Heals Volunteer Sign-Up Information

Reynolds, Indiana • June 3–7, 2026

Please join us in welcoming The Wall That Heals to our community from June 3rd–7th, 2026, by volunteering to honor all who have served.

📋 Volunteer training will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd at 6 PM. Attendance is strongly encouraged.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time for any shift/position you volunteer for. All volunteers must be prepared for weather conditions.

For those wishing to volunteer that may have physical limitations, the best position would be the Visitor Tent as other positions will require some standing or being in the sun. If you don't like the heat; overnight, evening and morning shifts may suit you better.

Volunteer Shift Descriptions

Assist Visitors at The Wall

Greet and assist visitors with finding names, viewing photos, and name rubbings. Listen and provide support when needed.

Mobile Education Center Volunteer

Talk about items, In Memory Honorees and Hometown Heroes.

Visitor Tent (Seated Position)

Assist in finding names on website or name directory. Monitor trifold inventory. Answer visitor questions to best of ability.

Direct Visitors (Floater)

Greet and assist visitors with information. Direct to The Wall, Trailer, Visitor Tent. Assist if they need help with mobility. Fill in other positions as needed.

Parking and Visitor Assistance

Direct parking. Visitor assistance with transportation to and from The Wall That Heals (Golf Cart / wheelchair / etc.)

Volunteer Tent

Check in volunteers, make sure the snacks and water/beverages are accessible to volunteers, communicate with VVMF / TWTH staff on tour schedules, etc.

Cart Driver

Transport visitors with mobility issues.

📱 Tip: There is a smartphone app that will be available to volunteers that makes it easy to find a veteran name on the wall, so most of the positions are simple and just require common sense and the willingness to help out.
